Slasher: “50,000 viewers for the first big online tournament — promising for Valorant esports going forward”

Esports journalist and insider Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau highlighting the number of viewers at the Valorant T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown. In his estimation, the peak number of online viewers on the official Twitch stream reached 50 thousand people. Breslau tweeted about this.

Slasher called such a start promising for Valorant, although some Twitter users did not agree with this.

They pointed that championship on “fresh game which is at the peak of hype” still more than twice lower than on CS: GO tournaments by the number of viewers.

The T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown was online from June 26th to 28th. The prize pool of the tournament was $50 thousand. Much major organization of the American esports scene participated in the fight for it — FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, Gen.G, Cloud9, and other organizations, Team SoloMid became the winner.
